Owners of antique Hudson, Essex and Terraplane automobiles will gather in Front Royal on May 17 through 20, for the 55th annual “Doc’s Apple Blossom Meet”.
This year the event has been designated the Eastern Regional Meet of the Hudson-Essex-Terraplane Club, and early indications are that this year’s attendance will exceed last year’s.
The four-day gathering includes a number of events including a visit to White Post Restorations, a driving tour with stops at several places of interest, and the annual all-Hudson car show and flea market at Skyline Caverns on Route 340, just south of Front Royal. The show takes place on Sunday, May 20, from 8:00 AM to noon. The public is welcome to attend the show at no charge.
“Doc’s Meet” was begun in 1964 by Front Royal resident D.C. “Doc” Daugherty, who named it after the Winchester “Apple Blossom” car show. It is sponsored by the Chesapeake Bay Chapter of the Hudson-Essex-Terraplane Club, an international group dedicated to preserving the automobiles built by the Hudson Motor Car Company of Detroit, Michigan.
More information on the meet is available on the CBC website, www.cbc.hetclub.org/ or from Jon Battle at (540) 364-1770.
