GNRS CA. Roadster Stolen from the Fairplex Sheraton “outdoor” car show. 32 “Bare Bones” Hiboy.Jan 30, 2011 at 6:47 pm #38582
I’m enlisting the help of the thousands of folks.
My ’32 Roadster was stolen last nite (1/30/2011) from the parking lot of the Sheraton hotel at the LA County Fairplex.
I was attending the GNRS and staying at the Sheraton.
The car is a semi-gloss black, heavily pin-striped, steel-bodied (Rod Bods), high-boy roadster with a 6-71 blown small block Chev, Wanlass/Rodwell windshield, black leather and aluminum paneled interior. License number BERBNZ. (Bare Bones)
There’s plenty of distinguishing characteristics on this car which make it unmistakable. I’ve included some photos.
If someone is offering you a screamin’ deal on a blower setup (Mooneyham), a steel ’32 roadster body, Chevy small block motor, 700-R4 transmission, 9-inch rear end, American Racing Torque Thrusts and tires, a Wanlass windshield, or any kind of parts, be advised – they could be hot.
If anyone has any information on the whereabouts of my car,
please contact me at the number below
or the Pomona PD at 909-620-2131.

This is terrible! The Sheraton is literally right next door to the Show. I can hardly believe someone would be so bold. The car has to be leaving the Country in a container, or was torn apart for it’s parts. Then again, Chick might get lucky if it was just Joy Ridden. There were two other Rods stolen out here in SoCal around the Holidays. Both were found untouched in their trailers. Lets hope Chick is as lucky!Jan 31, 2011 at 10:23 pm #38585
Folks, the outpouring of good wishes and advice on the H.A.M.B. is simply incredible !!! You guys are great. I’ve received tons of posts, as you can see, but also phone calls and emails from great people from (literally) all over the world. I haven’t gotten that one call from Pomona PD yet saying to come pick up my car, and that the arraignment of the alleged perps is Thursday in Superior Court on Mission Avenue in Pomona. I’m very confident that I’ll get that call soon.
If there’s one lesson for all of us to learn from this experience, it’s: we have to be responsible for our own stuff. We can’t depend on security cameras (the Sheraton doesn’t have them, nor do many others), security patrols (the Sheraton crew could be a lot more aggressive, most others don’t have them), or on anyone else. Many of you know that I’m a freak for road trips. I’ve accumulated 62,000 miles in my roadster in 9 years. Many of the places that I’ve passed through are remote, to say the least. If a motel has coffee, that’s saying a lot – forget about security! Bottom Line: It’s MY car, I need to take steps to ensure its security. Will my solution be a GPS locator system of some sort? Likely. Will it have a fuel shutoff? Likely. Will it have a battery disconnect? Likely. Will it engage the brakes so the tires and wheels won’t roll? Also likely. Will it include live rattlesnakes? Not likely. But, whatever the system, most anything can be defeated by persistent, knowledgeable, crafty folks. If something helps deter the theft long enough to make it unattractive, that’s great. If they boost it in spite of all the hindrances, then I’d like something to pinpoint its location to aid in its recovery.
Once again, thanks to all of you for all of your kind thoughts.
My car was not in a trailer. It was parked naked. The only time this car sees a trailer is when it’s hard broke or being stolen.Feb 1, 2011 at 8:12 pm #38586
Some more photos of the 32, this ride is so sweet, and so easy to recognize I’m sure it is in a trailer hiding somewhereFeb 1, 2011 at 8:14 pm #38587
This is what one of the guys on the HAMB uses on his ride and says …
“The beautiful thing is I can log on and find my car myself. And if anyone f#cks with my car my phone lets me know. Lots of nice features.Feb 3, 2011 at 10:07 pm #38588Feb 4, 2011 at 10:53 am #38589
So it looks like they found the car and the scumbags who stole it. Score one for the Good Guys!! Hope to hear more of the details soon. -Jerry:>)Feb 15, 2011 at 11:40 pm #38590
